Will de Laszlo

Founder and Managing Partner / Founder and Director, Agathos Management / GB Row Challenge

William is Founder of GB Row Challenge, a race with a purpose.

William believes that most problems can be solved - sometimes they just need to be looked at differently and always need hard work. A sense of humour “no journey is long with good company”, humility “you are only as good as the people you work with”, trust “when you can’t read very well this is key” and enthusiasm “energy - the more you put in the more you get out” are key values that drive him. In 2005, William rowed around the coast of Great Britain - after being told that it was impossible - being the first GB Row Challenge crew to do so unsupported, setting a world record in the process and raising over £150,000 for charity. Since then, William has combined his love for the environment and desire to increase wareness around its protection, with his passion for rowing. Working with the University of Portsmouth, he’s driven the collection & analysis of scientific data from British coastal waters (microplastics, environmental DNA, temperature, noise and salinity) which GB Row Challenge crews collect with a range of equipment attached to their boats.

Outside of GB Row Challenge, Wiliam is Co-Founder and Joint Managing Partner at Agathos, a UK private equity firm investing in UK-based SMEs. William is a veteran private equity investor and serial entrepreneur, who began his finance career with J.P. Morgan after serving in the British Army. He has an MBA with distinction from Oxford University’s Said Business school and is passionate about working with and backing great people.

William can often be found practicing what he learned in ‘Born to Run’ by running barefoot with or after his four kids - Alice, Walter, Gabriel and Xander, and cold water swimming in the Serpentine. “Plus est en vous” - There is more in you than you think!
