Penny is a Chartered Structural Engineer and Chartered Environmentalist who is currently Head of Sustainability at Elliott Wood. She leads a growing sustainability focused team at Elliott Wood which offers a range of sustainability consultancy services beyond the remit of typical structural and civil engineering. She is a member of the IStructE’s Climate Emergency Task Group helping to deliver the Institution’s response to the climate emergency, including The Structural Carbon Tool. As part of this work, Penny was lead author for a new book providing guidance on Circular Economy & Reuse for designers, which was published in July 2023. She is very active in research on Circular Economy and reuse of steel in particular, and was awarded the 2022 Women in Construction & Engineering Award for best Woman in Environment & Sustainability.
