Catherine Howarth OBE joined ShareAction as Chief Executive in 2008 and leads the NGO’s work to drive ambitious standards of responsible investment. Prior to this she spent eight years as a campaigner with London Citizens, following studies at the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics.

She is a member of the Financial Conduct Authority’s advisory committee on ESG and of the HM Treasury’s Asset Management Taskforce. She served on the board of The Pensions Trust from 2008-2013 and on the board of the Scott Trust, owner of The Guardian Media Group, from 2015-2022. Catherine was named as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in 2014, recognised on the BBC Woman’s Hour Power List in 2020, and awarded an OBE for ‘services to sustainability’ in 2022.
