Dr. Basma AlBuharian
Dr. Basma AlBuhairan is a transformative leader with over two decades of experience, making a significant mark in healthcare, education, innovation, investment, emerging technologies, and culture. Her distinguished career highlights the growing influence of women leaders in Saudi Arabia, where she has shaped industries, guided institutions, and contributed to global dialogues. As a globally minded yet nationally rooted leader, Dr. Basma embodies the modern Saudi vision—strategic, inclusive, and committed to meaningful change.
She held key roles at King Abdulaziz Medical City Riyadh, IBM, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital, and the Ministry of Investment. These roles have demonstrated her exceptional ability to drive large-scale projects, establish state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, and attract international life sciences organizations to Saudi Arabia. Currently, as Managing Director of the World Economic Forum’s Affiliate Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Saudi Arabia, she leads efforts in responsible governance of advanced technologies such as quantum.
Dr. AlBuhairan is deeply passionate about mentoring and lifelong learning. Passionate about mentoring and lifelong learning, Dr. Basma holds a PhD in Public Health and Health Services Research and two Master’s degrees –one in Public Health and a latter in Molecular Biology. She is also a fellow of the Eisenhower Fellowships Organization.
