Building Deforestation-Free Supply Chains

29 Apr 2026
Resilient Supply Chains

Forests play a critical role in regulating the global climate and protecting biodiversity, yet deforestation continues at an alarming rate, contributing around 11% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Much of this loss is driven by complex global supply chains, where limited transparency around sourcing and land use can obscure responsibility and slow action.

Improving visibility across supply chains, through new technologies, stronger regulatory frameworks and enhanced corporate disclosure, will be essential to accelerating progress toward deforestation-free commodities.

• What technologies, data platforms and partnerships are helping improve visibility into deforestation risks across global supply chains?

• How can regulation and voluntary corporate commitments work together to accelerate the shift toward deforestation-free supply chains?

• What role can investors and financial institutions play in strengthening corporate accountability and directing capital toward forest protection?
