The Capital Challenge: Financing Frontier Climate Solutions

29 Apr 2026
Main Stage
Financing the Transition

Whilst global investment in clean technologies reached a record $2.1 trillion in 2024, nearly 90% of this capital flowed into mature solutions, leaving frontier technologies such as carbon removal, green hydrogen, and advanced materials significantly underfunded and struggling to scale.

Unlocking finance for these early-stage innovations will require clearer and more consistent policy frameworks, de-risked investment pathways, and stronger market signals from corporate buyers to build long-term demand and commercial viability.

  • With investment on the move, how do we unlock funding for these FOAK and early-stage technologies and innovation?

  • What role should corporate buyers and venture funds play in building demand signals for emerging solutions?
