Maximising the Capital Stack: Climate Finance for the Global South
Despite some progress, there is still a significant shortfall in mobilising the trillions needed to fully fund developing countries’ climate action plans by 2030. Carbon markets present a powerful opportunity to generate the necessary level of financing for energy deployment, economic growth, innovation and sustainable development in the Global South.
To seize this opportunity, countries must establish the governance and regulatory frameworks to support voluntary carbon action, while also addressing challenges related to the transparency of financial flows and that ensuring that all stakeholders benefit equitably from transactions.
