How to Achieve a Green Industrial Renaissance in Europe
Retaining and growing green industry in Europe is proving challenging amidst high power prices, inflation, and the pressures of decarbonisation mandates like CBAM. To attract investment into hydrogen, CCS, and SAF projects, developers must adopt credible business models—such as regulated asset bases or CCfDs—while governments offer supportive policies, from subsidies to tax incentives.
The UK and EU are making moves, including the UK’s industrial strategy, GB Energy, cluster funding, and the EU’s Green Deal aimed at lowering energy costs. But are these steps enough for debt and equity providers to start financing large-scale projects? This session explores what more is needed, drawing on global success stories and cross-sectoral lessons to examine how Europe can build a competitive, investable green industrial economy.
