How can we accelerate collaboration to create resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure for communities
As the UK advances towards its 2050 net zero target, Smart Local Energy Systems (SLES) are emerging as a cornerstone of a more resilient, sustainable, and decentralised energy future. This session will explore how local authorities, contractors, and communities can work together to unlock the full potential of SLES. Panellists will examine the economic, social, and environmental benefits of local energy, while addressing the policy, regulatory, and technological barriers that must be overcome. With a focus on inclusive engagement, place-based strategies, and the government’s Local Power Plan, this discussion will highlight practical pathways for collaborative, integrated solutions that empower communities and accelerate the transition to net zero.
