CONNECTING ACADEMIA AND EARLY STAGE FUNDING IN UK-SAUDI ARABIA CLEANTECH
The United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia have important roles to play in the journey to net zero.
Saudi Arabia has committed to reaching net zero by 2060, bringing renewables to supply half of the domestic energy mix by 2030, and gigaprojects such as NEOM will be powered entirely by clean energy. Relating to entrepreneurship and innovation, Saudi hosts a selection of world class institutions such as the King Abdullah University for Science and Technology and KACST at the forefront of cleantech research.
The Saudi British Joint Business Council’s panel at Innovation Zero will bring together leaders to discuss the pathway from academia to commercialisation, particularly in light of the recent innovation and research MoU signed between our two governments. Key areas of focus will include government support for innovation, best practice in academia to support entrepreneurship, and the financing needed for spin outs.
