DECARBONISING HEAVY MATERIALS: A PATHWAY TO LOW CARBON INFRASTRUCTURE

30 Apr 2024
Industrial Forum
Supply Chain , Innovation

The session looks at what the heavy building materials industry is doing to decarbonise and how it is working with its customers to create the low carbon infrastructure of the future. It includes a 15-minute presentation from Simon Willis, CEO at Heidelberg Materials UK, who has 35 years’ experience in the construction industry and joined the company from Eurovia Infrastructure in 2018.
His focus has been on driving down carbon emissions through the company’s involvement in several industry-leading projects and creating a recycling business line as part of its strategy to conserve natural materials and support the circular economy. Simon will look at the decarbonisation challenge, successes to date and plans for the future and discuss the importance of net zero construction materials in realising the government’s net zero ambitions.
