The UK is a global biomass leader, with bioenergy generating 8.6% of total energy supply in 2022 across transport, heat, and electricity. As the nation seeks to scale the industry, our expert panel will delve into the critical issues which stand in the way, and the innovations which afford the sector the greatest opportunities.

How can we secure a sustainable feedstock supply, both from imports and domestically, without comprising food security? How can the industry ensure there is up-to-date sustainability criteria for biomass across all sectors, and GHG emissions, air pollution, and biodiversity loss are mitigated at all costs?

Panellists will explore how innovations biomass can enable the decarbonisation of industry, while examining the measures required so its success at scale does not come at the expense of sustainability.
