Kateryna Pylypchuk at the EU–Ukraine Business Summit 2025: Advocating Circular Recovery with Modulina Straw Panels and Rebuild Green
)
Although Kateryna joined as a visitor, her active participation left a strong impression. She engaged with high-level officials and industry leaders, serving as a bridge between natural building technologies, green innovation, and post-war reconstruction efforts. Kateryna was invited to the event by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, proudly representing Modulina Straw Panels, a Lithuania-based company producing prefabricated straw panel solutions for energy-efficient, carbon-negative buildings.
She also represented the Rebuild Green 2030 program initiated by FIABCI-Ukraine and Synchro Space with the support of Modulina, working to ensure that reconstruction efforts in Ukraine follow principles of climate resilience and circularity. Her presence was also made possible by the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), which invited her to present Winhub — a pioneering logistics and infrastructure development project led by Terwin Group, a FIABCI-Ukraine member — during the workshop “How to Invest in Ukraine.”
Showcasing Winhub and the Green Rebuilding Vision
At the workshop, Kateryna presented Winhub, a visionary project aimed at establishing a national network of Class A logistics parks across Ukraine, designed to meet LEED standards and support the country’s reconstruction logistics. She used the opportunity to highlight how projects like Winhub can not just be energy efficient, but to showcase the way of how the integration of bio-based materials on a bigger scale can create new green infrastructure that is not only functional but also ecologically regenerative.

Kateryna’s message to global investors was clear: “The recovery of Ukraine must go hand in hand with the decarbonization of its construction sector. Rebuilding with conventional materials will only perpetuate climate and environmental burdens. We must rebuild green from the ground up and that starts with the materials we choose as well as the mindset of taking care of our environment and humanity.”
Building Strategic Connections
Kateryna’s presence at the summit was not only about presentations but also about forging meaningful partnerships. She met with key international figures and explored collaborations that could scale up Modulina’s operations and the broader Rebuild Green vision:
- Darius Skusevicius, Ambassador-at-Large for the Coordination of Recovery and Reconstruction of Ukraine (MFA Lithuania), discussed the strategic importance of expanding Modulina’s manufacturing facilities into Ukraine — a step that would localize production and boost regional economies.
- With Natalia Nazarovets, Associate Director for Manufacturing and Services, EBRD Ukraine, Kateryna discussed the financing and support mechanisms needed to enable the deployment of Modulina’s production lines in Ukraine, aligning with EBRD’s commitment to green industry and private sector development.
- In a conversation with Denys Malengreau, Energy Act for Ukraine Foundation, Kateryna explored the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Rebuild Green program, creating a framework for collaboration on winning project developments that champion renewable energy and natural materials.
- With Audrius Zabotka, Board Member of Jures Glulam, they envisioned a powerful collaboration between Lithuanian timber construction producer and Lithuanian prefabricated straw insulation panels manufacturer. Their dialogue opened up pathways to use CLT (cross-laminated timber) structures combined with Modulina straw panels in multi-story buildings both in Ukraine and across Europe.
- Tetsuo Shibata, Director General of JETRO Kyiv, and Kateryna explored a bold idea: forming a technology consortium of Japanese, Lithuanian, and Ukrainian partners to introduce advanced, hybrid straw panel production lines in Ukraine — integrating Japanese manufacturing excellence with European sustainability standards.
- With Angelo Vita, an Italian industry figure, Kateryna discussed potential joint initiatives in Italy and Ukraine and the possibility of engaging him in the Rebuild Green initiative. This included connecting him with Alissa Ban’kovska, the Rebuild Green Program Coordinator and Head of the Sustainable Development Committee at FIABCI-Ukraine.
In a key meeting with Maksym Fedoseienko, Head of Strategic Projects at Kyiv School of Economics, Kateryna explored how to develop a comprehensive investment package for establishing Modulina’s manufacturing hub in Ukraine. Their conversation focused on project design, stakeholder alignment, and crafting a compelling value proposition for international investors.
Leading Through Regenerative Design
Through her advocacy and strategic networking, Kateryna Pylypchuk championed the idea that reconstruction must be regenerative — not just restoring what was lost, but building back better, smarter, and more sustainably. The straw panel technology she promotes is not a novelty — it’s rooted in centuries of natural building tradition, now refined by contemporary engineering and prefabrication. It’s a material that locks in carbon, insulates exceptionally well, and empowers local economies with job creation and agricultural synergy.
Her voice at the summit echoed the values that must underpin Ukraine’s recovery: decarbonization, localism, resilience, and innovation. Her presence not only represented Modulina, FIABCI-Ukraine, and Synchro Space — it symbolized a new paradigm in construction where nature and technology collaborate.
As the world watches Ukraine rise again, Kateryna and her partners are ensuring that its foundation is not concrete alone — but straw, timber, and vision!
