The inaugural Innovation Zero, which took place at Olympia London on the 24-25 May 2023, was a testament to the power of convening 6,866 passionate, forward-looking experts together to exchange critical knowledge, debate and discuss the implementation of the tech innovation which we will need to deliver the low carbon transition that we want to see.
We were informed on the UK’s position through keynote addresses from policy makers such as the Deputy Prime Minister, Rt Hon. Oliver Dowden CBE MP, The UK’s Minister for Net Zero, the Rt Hon. Graham Stuart MP, as well as distinguished global policy makers including the Moroccan Minister for Energy, H.E. Leila Benali, and the US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Senior advisor and Managing Director for Energy, David Livingstone.
Two of the world's foremost climate scientists, Prof. Johan Rockstrom, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, and Prof. Sir David King Founder of the Centre for Climate Repair, University of Cambridge delivered the context for Innovation Zero, and we were updated from industry leaders, including John Holland-Kaye, CEO of Heathrow Airport, and Louise Kingham CBE, SVP for Europe & Head of Country for BP, on how they are innovating to meet the challenge of Net Zero.
The Finance community and Innovation community were strongly represented in sessions led by Bob Wigley, Chair of UK Finance, John Flint CEO of the UK Infrastructure Bank, and Dr Rhian-Mari Thomas OBE, CEO of the Green Finance Institute. Earthshot finalist, Dr Natasha Boulding, Co-founder of Low Carbon Materials, serial entrepreneur Dale Vince Founder of Ecotricty and SkyDiamond, and fusion energy pioneer Nicholas Hawker, CEO First Light Fusion delivered their visions of the future.
