Gordon champions sustainability and the responsible business agenda to build legitimacy and resilience in the UK water industry. Since joining United Utilities in early 2021, Gordon has established a new long term strategy team that is leading ambitious programmes on carbon reduction, adaptive planning, and shaping sustainable decision making. Previously Head of Sustainability at Yorkshire Water, Gordon and his team worked to shape the culture and corporate strategy of the business. He deployed the Six Capitals and Integrated Reporting approaches to advance the company's understanding of impact and value to shape more sustainable decision-making, strategies and investment choices. Gordon also helped establish the Board Social Value Committee. Gordon is also a commissioner in the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission, and chair of trustees at the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation.
