Stefanie Murphy
Stef Murphy’s civil service career has largely centred on energy policy, where she has led teams working on new nuclear policy, nuclear security and resilience and oil and gas. Stef also worked in strategy for energy and climate change before coordinating The Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS’s) work on EU Exit. Stef then became Director for Industrial Energy in BEIS, responsible for strategy, policy development and delivery on industrial energy and decarbonisation issues. Stef is now the Hydrogen Director in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, leading the development of the low carbon hydrogen economy as a key technology for the decarbonisation of power, industry and heavy transport and for promoting growth in UK sectors.
