Neil Hornby
Neil joined Cefas as Chief Executive in 2021. Leading a government science agency of over 600 staff, based primarily in Lowestoft and Weymouth in the UK, he is responsible for ensuring the provision of world leading marine and freshwater science in support of the UK government’s objectives.
Key responsibilities include using science to support the development of safe and sustainable fishing, aquaculture and seafood industries, tackling climate change, promoting nature recovery and improving environmental quality. He oversees Cefas’ work in the UK and with partners and governments around the world to understand the opportunities and threats facing marine and freshwater environments and how to manage them.
