Emily is a Councillor and Cabinet Member for Lewes District Council where she leads on Climate, Nature & Food Systems.

She was previously a Cabinet Member for Planning, where she led on greener planning policy, introducing new technical guidance on sustainability, biodiversity net gain and the circular economy.

She is also an expert on food systems; a campaigner on food poverty and food and climate change; and has previously worked on the national Sustainable Food Places programme.

She is Deputy Chair of the People and Places Board at the Local Government Association.
