Andrew Burns is the Global Head of Data Strategy and Innovation at National Grid, where he leads the organisation’s evolving approach to data, innovation and emerging technology. Since joining in 2017, he has shaped National Grid’s innovation agenda across areas ranging from GenAI avatars and digital twins to graph technology and quantum computing. This is underpinned by a passion for building a culture of experimentation and collaboration - helping the organisation turn new ideas into real value.

Outside of work, he’s busy coaching under‑10s and under-6s rugby squads - and an under‑10s football squad - a role he credits with keeping him grounded and energised.
