Vertical Future: Food, water and supply chain security – creating vertical farming model 5.0

24 May 2023
Green Stage
Green Stage

Vertical farming technologies and crop science are each playing an increasingly important role in improving both food and water security in multiple geographies, including in the United Kingdom. But what is vertical farming, what are the optimal models that should be pursued (or not), and what are the critical success factors that should be considered and how does this contribute towards net zero targets?

The panel will discuss how vertical farming and controlled environment agriculture can support in optimising food systems and making them more resource-use efficient. The panel will address some of the known challenges that need to be overcome, as well as the crucial role of crop science as an important enabler for technological advancement.
