REDUCING FOOD WASTE FOR NET ZERO
Food loss and waste accounts for 8-10% of global greenhouse gas emissions, according to the UN Environment Programme. As part of its SDG 12 target, the UN is seeking to cut global food waste per person in half at the retail and consumer stages and reduce food losses throughout production and supply chains.
How do we achieve this target of reducing food loss and transition to a more sustainable food system? To answer this question, our session will consider how to incentivise food waste reporting regulation, what campaigners are doing to push the needle and discuss how supermarkets, farmers and others are working with innovators to reduce food waste throughout the supply chain.
