DECARBONISATION AND ADAPTATION IN URBAN ENVIRONMENTS
It is estimated that by 2050, seven in ten people worldwide will live in cities. Not only will our urban environments have to transform to accommodate this huge population influx, but concurrently mitigate and adapt to forecasted climate trends.
With this in mind, this session examines how city leaders are working with industry to design desirable places to live, work and visit in rapidly a changing climate, and how urban environments are planning for resilience in the face of changing heat and flood risk.
We consider how engineered and nature-based innovations are reshaping and defining the built environment and what this ultimately means for the people who inhabit it.
