Voluntary carbon offsets based on forest restoration
Description
The main idea behind our project is to give everyone an opportunity to gradually build a tangible, positive environmental impact by joining forest restoration at scale, and to make it as easy and convenient as possible, while addressing shortcomings of existing solutions.
We offer a tree planting plans, allowing to gradually build major impact, and to avoid the situation, when people get a false sense of doing enough when planting one or a few trees. In our impact calculations we include trees survivability, taking into account that not every seedling will get a chance to mature. That way we could offer yearly carbon recapture rates, and report on positive impact in a real-time manner.
We are also more involved into the whole planting process, partnering directly with municipalities and forestry services. We aim to plant native species, creating more natural ecosystems with mainly ecological functions, instead of industrial plantations.
Overview
- We show how many trees are really needed to offset carbon footprint
- We include trees’ survivability rates, preventing impact overestimation and allowing to report progress in a real time manner
- We aim to make a true land cover change and create new diverse forests and woodlands with mostly ecological functions
