Energy in the Cloud

Energy in the Cloud’s IDPR is a device based on state-of-the-art power electronics that connects in parallel with the low-voltage grid. It provides improved power quality, such as active compensation of harmonic currents, reactive power compensation thanks to its four-quadrant operation, and current balancing for imbalances originating on the demand side. At the same time, it can integrate an energy storage system that enables active power management.

It is conceived as a normal operating mode to convert the entire downstream system into an aggregated bidirectional load that can be regulated to meet upstream distributor requirements in terms of stability and energy management.

In this way, the IDPR aims to be a powerful element for integrating distributed renewable generation, residential and industrial loads, and electric vehicles.

In the short term, it also offers the possibility of providing various flexibility services such as congestion management, voltage/reactive power control, optimization of day-ahead and intraday energy portfolios, self-balancing, and peak power control.

In the event of a grid failure or a planned disconnection, the IDPR can restore the low-voltage network in island mode.

Operation in off-grid mode provides the system with a voltage reference to supply loads and distributed generation, thanks to the energy storage system.

The IDPR control system is managed by the system operator through setpoints and allows continuous monitoring of power flows upstream and downstream of the point of connection.

The IDPR is a key new asset in low-voltage networks to drive them into a new era of smart grids.
