Electric Road: First Full-Scale Trials at Gustave Eiffel University

The CAYD project (Charge As You Drive), led by Gustave Eiffel University in partnership with Vinci, Vinci Construction, Cerema, Elonroad, and the Future Vehicle cluster, aims to integrate electric vehicle charging systems directly into asphalt roadways.

The first full-scale trials of the CAYD project began on July 11th at the traffic simulator (fatigue testing rig) on the Nantes campus of Gustave Eiffel University.

These tests will evaluate the performance of several induction coil prototypes under heavy truck axle loads to verify the traffic resistance of these systems before their implementation on a 2 km section of the A10 highway in 2025.
