Buildwise and Ormit Talent launch first AI traineeship in Belgium
The Belgian construction sector faces immense challenges: an increasingly complex market, relatively low productivity, high failure costs, labour market tightness and the need to work sustainably. AI can play a key role here and start providing solutions. With their unique AI traineeship, Buildwise and Ormit Talent are committed to training young talents to use this technology strategically, with tangible impact for companies and the sector as a whole.
A traineeship programme that pushes boundaries.
The two-year programme offers a unique combination of personal development and innovation.
Participants work on three challenging assignments that become increasingly complex as they delve into AI and data-driven solutions. They are supported by a community of experts, coaches and fellow
trainees. ‘This traineeship is more than a job,’ says Laetitia Moyaert, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Ormit Talent. "We are looking for entry-level professionals with a passion for AI and data, who want
to harness the potential of technology to realise real change. With targeted coaching and training, we help trainees discover their talents and growth points. This way, they not only learn how to develop themselves, but also how to make an impact within Buildwise, the world of AI and the wider construction industry."
At Buildwise, trainees have the opportunity to work on actual projects, such as:
Streamlining and simplifying the complex document management associated with construction and renovation projects.
Designing AI-driven tools that analyse data from IOT sensors and drones to monitor construction projects in real time.
Using machine learning for various applications such as predictive maintenance, schedule optimisation and pattern recognition.
Implementing AI solutions that are not only technologically innovative, but also usable and scalable for the wider industry.
A step forward for the construction industry
With this initiative, Buildwise and Ormit Talent aim to start a movement within the construction industry. ‘We want to make AI accessible and show that this technology is not something of the distant future, but a tool we can already use today,’ said Pieter Van Geite, IT director at Buildwise. "AI should allow small and large contractors and installers to work more efficiently, make faster decisions and focus on their core business. With this AI traineeship, we obviously want not only to inspire individuals, but also to position the Belgian construction sector as an international leader in innovation."
Participants in the traineeship have a strong affinity with AI and data, a growth mindset and a good knowledge of Python. Language skills (French/Dutch) are a plus.
