Boulby Underground Laboratory

Boulby Underground Laboratory is the UK's deep multidisciplinary science facility, located 1.1km beneath the North East coast.  Part of STFC, Boulby provides a unique ultra-low-radiation environment enabling world-leading research across pure and applied projects, with national and international signifigance for science and technology development.  Current programmes include low-background and particle physics, Earth and environmental sciences, quantum technologies and planetary exploration and technology development.  Boulby collaborates widely with academia and industry, supporting breakthroughs with real-world impact.  As the UK's deepest working laboratory, Boulby offers a globally distinctive platform for science and technology innovation.
