Prof. Sami Al-Ghamdi
Prof. Sami G. Al-Ghamdi is a distinguished Professor at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). He holds a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, an MSc degree in Civil and Construction Engineering from Western Michigan University, and a BSc degree in architecture and building sciences from King Saud University. At KAUST, he leads the Urban Lab, spearheading groundbreaking research on sustainable built environments. His multidisciplinary research team, comprising over twenty researchers, focuses on combating climate change, optimizing resource consumption, and enhancing quality of life. His extensive research portfolio, consisting of over two hundred peer-reviewed studies, spans multiple fields. Prof. Al-Ghamdi's expertise spans advanced computational techniques and a holistic approach to sustainability and resiliency research across key pillars of the built environment. Professor Al-Ghamdi is dedicated to developing practical methodologies to assess sustainability and resiliency comprehensively, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
