A writer, commentor and consultant living and working in the Middle East since 2006, after nearly 30 years as a business journalist and editor for some of the biggest titles in the world – Financial Times, Guardian, Sunday Times and Observer among them.
I have been a commentator with several UAE media outlets for the past 13 years, including a stint as senior business columnist with The National of Abu Dhabi, and then with Arab News of Saudi Arabia as senior reporter and columnist, launching the popular series of video interviews “Frankly Speaking”. Currently Editor at Large at
Arabian Gulf Business Insight (AGBI).
I write about all aspects of the Middle East business and financial scene, with a particular emphasis on the profound economic changes under way in the Kingdon of
Saudi Arabia.. The energy industry is crucial to these and is a major focus of my work.
I am a communications consultant to several government departments and corporations in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in the GCC, as well as a regular attendee at
World Economic Forum events in Davos and elsewhere., I have spoken at and moderated high-level events, including the Future Investment Initiative forum in Riyadh,
which I have attended since inception.
